Privacy
This page explains how the public miniBIOTA website uses cookies, local storage, analytics, embedded services, and visitor-provided information.
Scope
This policy applies to the public website at minibiota.com and www.minibiota.com. It covers public website pages, the cookie notice, embedded media, linked public services, and public read-only biosphere data surfaces.
It does not replace the privacy terms of third-party services that may appear on or be linked from the site, such as Google, Substack, YouTube, Patreon, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other social platforms.

Cookies And Local Storage
The website uses a cookie notice so visitors can choose whether to allow optional analytics.
Essential browser storage is used for basic website behavior. This can include the Flask session cookie used for CSRF protection and temporary session behavior, plus local browser storage used to remember the cookie notice choice.
The cookie notice stores cookieConsent and cookieConsentDate in the browser. The site checks this choice for up to 365 days before showing the notice again.
Analytics
If a visitor chooses "Accept All" in the cookie notice, the site loads Google Analytics 4 using measurement ID G-FD96DSLPYV. The site sends Google Analytics configuration that requests IP anonymization where supported and uses secure same-site cookie flags.
Google Analytics may set analytics cookies such as _ga or related Google tag cookies. The site uses analytics to understand general website traffic and improve public pages.
The current consent implementation is site-side gating. The Google Analytics script is not intentionally loaded unless a visitor accepts optional analytics. If a visitor chooses "Decline Optional," the site does not intentionally load Google Analytics from the cookie banner flow and attempts to remove common current or legacy Google Analytics cookies for the current domain when present.
Google Analytics event-level retention is currently configured for 2 months and user-level retention for 14 months for exploration and funnel-style reports. Standard aggregate reports may persist longer according to Google's settings and policies.
Based on the current configuration reviewed for this page, Google signals, Google Ads links, Display & Video 360 links, BigQuery links, and custom advertising audiences are not active for the website property. Google Analytics account data-sharing settings and Google's own processing may still apply.
Information Visitors Provide
The newsletter signup on the homepage is an embedded Substack form. Email signup details entered there are submitted to Substack, not to a miniBIOTA-owned signup route on this website.
If a visitor contacts miniBIOTA through email, Substack, Patreon, YouTube, Instagram, or another linked platform, that communication is handled through the platform used for the contact.
Embedded And Linked Services
The public website loads Google Fonts for typography before the cookie notice is answered. Font requests may send technical request information to Google, such as IP address, requested font URL, browser/user-agent details, and referrer.
The public website may include embedded YouTube videos, a Substack signup iframe, Google Analytics after consent, public social links, and Patreon links. These services may process visitor information according to their own privacy policies when embedded content loads, a visitor interacts with it, or a visitor follows a link away from miniBIOTA.
Public social links may include Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Patreon, and similar miniBIOTA public channels. Following those links takes visitors to services miniBIOTA does not operate.
Public Biosphere Data
The biosphere and telemetry surfaces are public read-only views into website-approved records and snapshots. They are not account pages, private dashboards, or hardware-control interfaces.
Public species, biome, chronicle, engineering, image, event, announcement, and telemetry records are displayed as website content. They are separate from visitor account data because the public website does not provide visitor accounts.
The website uses server-side backend and database services to render approved public content. Visitors do not receive direct database access through the public site.
Website Operations And Retention
The website uses normal hosting, DNS, image delivery, security, and delivery infrastructure. These systems may process request information such as IP address, browser details, request path, referrer, and timestamp as part of ordinary website delivery, abuse prevention, debugging, and security.
Security, delivery, hosting, DNS, image delivery, and operational logs are retained according to provider settings and miniBIOTA's operational needs. Analytics and third-party service data are retained according to the settings and policies of those services.
Visitor Choices
Visitors can accept or decline optional analytics through the cookie notice. Browser settings can also be used to clear cookies and local storage for the site.
Visitors who subscribe through Substack should use Substack's subscriber preferences or unsubscribe tools to manage email delivery. Visitors who interact with YouTube, Patreon, Google, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other social platforms should use those services' privacy and account settings for activity handled by those platforms.
Children
The public website is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13.
